Social Security Emergency Response ("we," "us," or "our") explains here how we collect, use, protect, and disclose personal information through socialsecurityemergencyresponse.com, our signup forms, and our communications, including text messages.

Information we collect and how we collect it

We collect information you choose to provide when you complete a form, request information, contact us, volunteer, register for an event, or contribute. Depending on your interaction, this may include your name, email address, mailing address, ZIP code, mobile number, communication preferences, and the contents of your messages.

When you subscribe to text messages, we collect your mobile number and your consent choices. We maintain records of the signup date, signup source, and consent language presented to you, along with messaging records such as replies, delivery status, and opt-out requests.

Our website and service providers may collect technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and access times. Cookies or similar technologies may support site functionality, security, and usage measurement. Your browser settings allow you to manage cookies; restricting them may affect some site functions.

If you contribute, we may receive contribution details and information required for applicable campaign-finance reporting, such as your name, address, occupation, and employer. Any payment service used to process a contribution handles payment information under its own privacy policy.

How we use information

We use information to respond to requests, manage supporter relationships, organize advocacy and events, coordinate volunteers, administer contributions, and communicate about our work. Our work includes protecting Social Security, advocating for raising the cap on taxable income, and supporting Democratic officials who will preserve the program.

We use messaging information to send the communications you requested, provide assistance, document consent, and honor opt-out requests. We also use information to maintain website security, address technical problems, prevent misuse, and meet applicable legal and reporting obligations.

How we protect and retain information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including limiting access to people and service providers who need it for their work. No website or information system can guarantee complete security.

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including required records and consent documentation. We may retain a limited record of an opt-out so that we can continue honoring it.

Privacy Policy continued

When we disclose information

We disclose information to service providers only as needed to perform work on our behalf, such as website hosting, form processing, supporter record management, payment processing, message delivery, and technical support. They are authorized to use that information to provide those services, rather than for their own marketing.

We may disclose information when required by law, valid legal process, or applicable campaign-finance reporting rules. Information included in legally required contribution reports may become public. We may also disclose information at your specific request, subject to the text messaging restrictions below.

We do not sell personal information or share it with other organizations for their independent marketing, fundraising, or promotional use.

Text messaging information and consent

We do not sell, rent, or transfer text messaging opt-in records or consent. We do not disclose those records to third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional activities. We do not share mobile numbers collected for our text program for those purposes. Our message-delivery providers may process this information only to operate the program for us. These protections apply to every disclosure described in this policy; legally required disclosures remain subject to applicable law.

Your communication choices

To stop our text messages, reply STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE to the number that sent the message. We will stop further program messages, apart from a single confirmation of your opt-out. We will not resume program messages unless you opt in again. You can also request that we stop texting you by emailing protectsocialsecurity@gmail.com and identifying the mobile number concerned.

Reply HELP for assistance with text messages, or email protectsocialsecurity@gmail.com. To stop email updates, use the unsubscribe link in an email or contact us. Changing your email preferences does not automatically change your text messaging preferences, and vice versa.

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you provided. We will review your request under applicable law and may need to verify your identity. Required records and limited information needed to honor an opt-out may need to be retained.

Other websites and policy changes

If you follow a link to another website, its privacy practices are governed by its own policy. We may update this policy and will post the revised version with an updated date. A policy update does not itself provide new consent to receive texts or authorize a new use of text messaging consent.
